Some people will become great no matter what they do. Some say it is destiny. Some call it fate. Other people call it luck. Whatever word strikes your fancy it seems that some people are headed to do great things. We all know Anthony Petrello accomplished things that would make the most humble person envious.
During his teenage years, Tony Petrello was a math genius. He was the kid you wanted to sit by when you needed to cheat on a math test. One of his favorite past time was to scribble mathematical formulas on coffee shop napkins just to prove how smart he was. Since Tony was a child prodigy, he would go on to be mentored by another math genius, Professor Serge Lang. Together these two formed a power team that could easily push the boundaries of known mathematics. Unfortunately Tony would have none of it. Tony wanted to be a business man. Tony left the field of mathematics to pursue a law degree, a journey that would break the heart of his mentor.
Tony picked up his law degree from Harvard University. He would use that degree to position himself inside the corporate law firm known as Baker and McKenzie. After working there for twelve years from 1979 to 1991 he would be picked up by his current employer Nabors Industries.
In 1991 he began as the COO, that is Chief Operating Officer, and would soon be quickly promoted to president in 1992. With that successful run under his belt he would add the position of Deputy Chairman from 2003 and 2012. His tenure in the position only ended because he was offered the job of CEO in 2011.
